ICT subject is being dropped from the bunch admission test!
Students are not interested; therefore, ICT is going to be dropped from the syllabus of the bunch admission test of 2021-22 academic year. However, a syllabus formulation committee has been formed to decide which subject will be included instead of the ICT subject with Mathematics and Physics. It will be finalized on the basis of the recommendations of this committee.
According to the relevant sources, this time the admission test will be held based on the short syllabus. As a result, the syllabus formulation committee will decide the syllabus of the subjects on which HSC examination has not been held. Besides, in the admission test of 2020-21 academic year, the students are not interested in choosing ICT subjects and because of not getting much option for setting questions from the subject, the issue of omitting ICT subjects in this year's admission test has come to the discussion. However, no final decision has been made yet. The syllabus formulation committee is going to hold a meeting soon.
Begum Rokeya University (BRU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Hasibur Rashid has been selected as the Convenor of this committee. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Munaj Ahmed Noor has been made the joint convener.
While asked about the matter, Professor Dr. Munaj Ahmed Noor told the Digi Bangla that there was not much benefit in last year's admission test by keeping ICT subject in the syllabus. That is why several of our members have proposed to exclude ICT from the syllabus of admission test. Because last time the students did not give a choice about ICT. Because not a single student is admitted to any university in the field of ICT. Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are the ones to be seen for admission. In other words, ICT is not recognized separately for subject choice in any university admission. As such, we will discuss it. The meeting will review the disinterest of the students and decide whether ICT will be kept in the admission test at all. The decision taken at the meeting will be communicated to the Admission Test Organizing Committee. Then they will make the final decision.
In the same meeting, a decision will be taken on which subject will be included in place of ICT, said the Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Prof. Dr. Munaj Ahmed Noor. Chandpur University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Nasim Akhtar has been given the responsibility of joint convener in this committee.
